Intrepid
Tools: Havok Vision Engine, Havok Physics
Platform: PC
Project Length: 6 weeks
Team Size: 13
Intrepid is a 3D cooperative puzzle-solving adventure game. You play as Tank, a corgi, with his faithful owner Jessie, a young girl as you explore a cave of wonders. I was the feature owner for Tank, the corgi, and on a day when everyone was gone I made the glow bug creatures to make the world feel alive. I also created the project files, configured them, and uploaded them to perforce. I also setup perforce directories and maintained the project so anyone can just get the latest revision, run a single bat file I maintained and have a working copy of the game.
From Intrepid I learned that I enjoy making other people's life easier, hence my gravitation to the things people don't like doing but needs to get done. Such as project structure maintenance, tools and that glow bug spawner.
This was the only game to not pass Vertical Slice, the day when the 5 Capstone games at FIEA are judged and games are cut based on the feelings and opinions of the facility. The reason given for not passing is the puzzles. From Intrepid I was redistributed to Grapple.

My Tasks:
- Corgi movement (Controller input, multiple speed states)
- Corgi physics
- Corgi jumping (Automatically detects edges and has the corgi jump. The player doesn't press anything to jump.)
- Corgi barking (Barking at Jessie causes her to stop or perform an action, barking at the glow worms causes them to scatter or hide.)
- Animation state machine (Choose what animation to play, the Vision Engine would handle the blending and transitions)
- Duo Animations (Would sync animations on both Jessie and Tank to perform jumps and recover from death.)
- Glowing Bugs & Spawner (The bugs are created at run time near a spawner and react with physics, eliminated the need for designers to place individual bugs and assign them AI routines. Their AI is a simple run away or hide in their spawner when the player barks near them.)
- Project Setup (Created the Visual Studio project, configured the build settings and targets(debug and release for x64 DirectX11), creating files to import files from engine directory to project directory.)
- Added Havok Physics (Configured the project to use with the full license, not the trial one offered for free with the engine.)
- Live Authoring Tools (Control bindings, mouse sensitivities, movement thresholds, window size and placement)
